I wouldn't say it was mediocre at all ( I c wut u did ther).

Although i'm getting a playback error on that video. Viewing on mobile. Odd.

Edit: fixed. Problem on my software. I love this track.

Hope you can bring up some good and cheap mic to less your noise and other inconvenience, there! Your voice is really great, but sound quality is kinda off.

its an actual voice rig now i dont have the old mic anymore

This mod is badass!! I love everything about it so far, but then again I'm not a very critical person. I love the soundtrack too! Can't wait to see what else you have in store!

Hey guys, thanks for the messages.

I've dropped a new video on the Youtube. You may have heard a ping from your phone/inbox a few minutes ago if you subscribed. I'm posting it here, but I'm not sure if I will be using this thread to plug the Youtube channel so much. Maybe focus more on development stuff.



Here we see a little demonstration of "The Wall", the main character's current home base. Now, in many games, the Start Town is a great place to get aquainted with the lore and story. Lots of people wandering around, waiting to give you helpful tips, interesting quests, a chance to sing and participate in some fun mini-games.

Unfortunately, this is the end of the world. So no one gives a shit.

Anyway, let me know what you think. It's hopefully going to be part of a new series of videos, that gives a little teaser as I finish each map. Map03 isn't really polished up yet, and I still want to add some more things to do in town. Not everyone is friendly, some are downright hostile. But you'll have the opportunity to get some new gear and a few pointers before you head out again into the wasteland.

Reminds me of R@GE a little, which is a good thing. Having a hub is nice, and bounties would be a cool thing to see as well.

Putting the mod in Wad format would require placing all the resources into their required order. It's a bit of a big job.

This is the nearest advice I could find, courtesy of ReX from Doomworld.

The big difference in pk3 and wad files is the support for folders offered by the former. There is no easy way to simply "convert" a pk3 file to a wad file. The way to do it is to remove the lumps from their folders and place them directly into the wad. Here is a quick outline:

1. Open your wad file in a lump editor such as XWE, DeepSea, SlumpEd or Slade. If you don't have a wad file you're starting with, simply use one of those editors to create a new wad file.
2. Open the pk3 file in another window/instance of the editor.
3. Go into each folder of the pk3, copy the lumps, and paste them into your wad file.
4. In the case of textures, sprites, and flats you may need to use the relevant markers (e.g., S_START/S_END) in your wad file.


Of course, this information is from 2011. I don't know what steps are required today. And I have never done such a thing. Do you mind me asking what this is for?

This map is absolutely enormous, but doesn't seem to suffer any slowdown as of yet.

Still thinking about whether to add a fog effect (compare shots 1 and 2). Maybe a rock texture that doesn't look so bad tiled. And not sure about the sky.

Let me know what you guys think.

Sorry for no uploads, by the way. It's taking me a while to get this map the way I want it.

Edit: Oh, and the Poll has finished, if anyone didn't notice. I'll be making a mod compatible version of Ashes after the main release, which will be geared towards maximum functions between my own Mod. Thanks for voting!
