Heretic and Hexen

Postby Anonymous » Thu Aug 28, 2003 2:25 pm

I just went on some kind of sick binge and DLed all my favorite old school fps. By doing this I came across zDoom. I thought this is great. I can play Doom 2 with full mouse and I even have sound! Then I DLed Hexen and Heretic and I got no sound. I was told to come to this site by someone on KLite, and well, I'm here. My question is, is there a zHexen or can zDoom work with Hexen? And if it does, how do I work this (I'm not very good with computers). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I can also play Doom 2 with mouse and sound, preferably PC Speaker.

Zdoom has Doom, Doom2 +addons, Heretic +addons and Hexen +addons (to be explained soon) support. Just put doom1.wad (Doom shareware), doom.wad (Doom or Ultimate Doom), doom2.wad, plutonia.wad (Plutonia Experiment), tnt.wad, heretic.wad (normal or with SOTSR addon), hexen.wad or hexenddp.wad(correct filename?, Deathkings/Citadel) in the same folder as ZDoom. Upon startup a dialog will pop up asking you what IWAD to choose, if you have not disabled that dialog yet.

They don't need to be in the same folder as ZDoom, you could IIRC also poke in zdoom.cfg.

And if the hacking goes well maybe it'll even have Strife support.

Thanks a lot guys. And Strife would be interesting (I used to have the demo). You should do Rise of the Triad too...

Keep up the good work on one of the coolest things ever...

Strife support would rule.

ROTT isn't DooM engine. It's a heavilly modified Wolfenstien 3D engine. Not compatable. However, the source code for ROTT was released, so ports of it are being created. Check 3D Realms' site for info.

Does anyone know of a way that I could acquire the full version of ROTT?

You can buy it at the 3D Reams site.
