Cutscenes, I had just started a level, went got to some big door, mage was talking about how they needed to blast through, then I get killed by some monster.
He didn't show up in the cutscene, through.

Don't worry about it.

Sort of like Strife, but whereas Strife is more modern with medieval aesthetic, this is more of a true mix.

I never actually finished the level without killing everything first, but yeah, now that you mention it, there's literally no protection so if you start the cutscene while there are still monsters around you can easily die. I'll fix that tonight.

Planned release date: 2013-09-14, but don't expect it to be on time.

I'm delaying 0.2R until 2013-09-20, because at this point I haven't even started on the leveling menu, nor do I have any clue on how to make it, and the powers only sort of work. I also want to do some more testing and tweaking on the follower code. I might even start working on the reputation system, although most likely I'll still leave that for 0.4R.

I would post screenshots, but there isn't really much to show. The next major update will be better, I promise. This one is a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff, laying the groundwork to get the rest of it to work. For example, I implemented custom damage types yesterday, but you're not going to see those in action for a while yet.

In the meantime, I'll try to be better about putting up dev builds.

It's not dead, it just took me an embarrassingly long time to do this.



You'll be able to try it as soon as I get the build up, which will be some time within the next few hours.

After being delayed by a week, and then another week and a bit, 0.2R is finally finished. I'm going to be honest, despite the major version step it's not a very exciting update. Very little in the way of maps, things, or gameplay has been added. 0.2R was all about laying the groundwork. Followers work, leveling is in and the power system works. There's also some scripting that hasn't been used yet, but will.

I was going to make 0.3R the "Things Update" and 0.4R the "World Update", but now I'm just going to build the world and add in things alongside each other. There will be a very long period with only dev builds, and I apologize for that.

It's also functionally identical to the 20130928 dev build, if you prefer pulling from the Dropbox "repository".

Vision trailer. It's meant to show what I'm trying to do. Some of you may recognize your work in here- as far as I know all of it was released for re-use and you will be properly credited once I do the writeup of how I hacked this trailer together. And yes, I know my voice sucks.

The software renderer looks kind of retro and kind of horrible at the same time. It also artifacts like crazy and crashes if you look at the sky.

Really, this project is meant for GZDoom- software renderer support is somewhere along the lines of "technically possible, but unsupported."
