[DISCUSSION] The Community Beastiary (on hold!)

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

[DISCUSSION] The Community Beastiary (on hold!)

USE THE NEW TOPIC FOR MONSTER CONTRIBUTIONS & SUGGESTIONS! THIS ONE IS ONLY DEDICATED TO OTHER DISCUSSIONS IF THEY ARE NEEDED

The Monster Resource Wad NG is dead! But consider this to be your new number one source of custom monsters ;)

Realm667 Beastiary Introduction
http://www.realm667.com/index.php?optio ... Itemid=105
Consider more to be added in the upcoming 5 hours.

Purpose
So whats the purpose of this? Very simple: A source for custom enemies for everyone's very own mods. This sounds similar to the MRW? Well, it is but this time it's a bit more easy for mappers to add these monsters to their wads as they are all splitted up in single wads to make it easier for you guys :)

Credits
All been given (or I actually try to). If you find something you have worked on, tell me and I will add you. If I have uploaded someone's work and that person actually doesn't want to see this on my site, send me a little PN and I will remove it again. Consider: This is not for me, it's for us ;)

Contributions
The monsters, zombies and beasts are always looking for new friends. So if you are interested somehow in contributing, feel free to do so, send in a link, I will test the monster and if it is innovativ and cool in a certain (subjectiv) way, I will add this :) For some ideas, check the following place:

Nice. I should get off my backside and finish my plague imp sprites.

Suggestion for the site: the previews are quite hard to see. I suggest making them bigger than their normal size and putting them against a more neutral and less fussy background.

You should use a plainer background. Some monsters are very hard to see on this one.

Cool, but as has already been said, a plainer (and lighter, IMO) background would work wonders here.

I realise that my monsters aren't really all that good, but if you like, I can send you a zip containing zips for every one that I've finished (that isn't part of my Water Resource Wad).

@Enjay - I am still looking forward to that one :)

@Phobus - Just upload it somewhere and put the link up here, maybe I will find something that fits into this ;)

Concerning the background: Yeah, sorry for that, just realised this now, but I will try to find a better background for those which are hard to see. :)

There you are, a wad which contains the following (sprites, sounds, decorate and decaldefs):

Aeon ([Very?] Hard, Ranged: Projectile, Flying, Ghost)
Armoured Baron (Hard, Melee, Ranged: Projectile, Demon, Hell)
Ignis Locus ([Very?] Hard, Ranged: Projectile, Demon, Hell)
Munchkin (Easy, Melee, Demon, Critter, Hell)
Rising Scientist Zombie (Easy, Melee, Human, Undead, Trap)
Scientist Zombie (Very Easy, Melee, Human, Undead)

I've included a credits in the bulk wadfile I've sent, so you can pick out the bits you want, if any at all. Those up there are properties you might give them.

Hrmm, the blood fiend and the mauler demon have the same sprites o.O

And your "Hell Master" (I think it was called) has it's difficulty set at Hell (I think by accident)

@Phob - Thx, I will take a look at them as soon as possible.

@Kirb - Yes, they do, just compare KDiZD and DE ;) But I'd appreciate it if someone comes up with differen sprites for the Mauler, maybe a recolor will do. Concerning the "Hell" Difficulty, that's indeed by accident and I will need to fix that.

By the way,
if you browse through these monsters, just let me know which of them are hard to see on the TEKWALL5 background so that I can change this as well. Do not point me to those which are viewable and good to recognize.

About my monsters... They lack original sounds and some scripts are bugged (poison souls poison making bloodsplats and hurting other poison souls etc.). So if there is someone who have some spare time and will to do something about it, feel free to change anything.

Hard to see:

Imp Warlord
Bat Familiar (where's the dragon familiar, by the way?)
Death Incarnate
Hectebus
Soul Harvester (to an extent)
Shadow (finer details of it get lost amongst the background)
Dark Imps (to a very little extent, they suffer the same as the Shadow)
Cultist
Double Chaingunner (can get lost there a little, but a lot of him does stand out)
Hell Hound (seems to be a little hard to spot)
Warlord of Hell (legs are difficult to see)

@Dutch - Thx, glad to hear if it is of any use for you :)

@Kirby / Blade - Okay, I will do something about the bat. Anything else?

@neo - Yeah, I strongly suggest if you find bugs in the wads, fix them, upload the fixed wads here and I will update my file archive :)
