oooh, well, i suppose you could find some utility to maybe convert them to another format in the meantime. But you never know, something like that could be so simple to add, that randy wouldnt need to take it out of his busy update schedual for Zdoom (not sarcastic :P)

IMF files are just a raw stream of Adlib register writes + delays. Converting them to MIDI would be very difficult it not impossible. The existing stuff (Winamp plugin) contains an Adlib emulator to synthesis the music

The plugin has allowed me to write IMFs to MP3s. However, the file sizes are obviously huge compared to the old IMF lumps. :?

Could Zdoom incorporate an emulator? Would it be worth it?

ZDoom have the same Adlib emulator as the Winamp plugin AFAIK (for playing MUSes).

I guess conversion to MIDI is possible after all, I just found a program by Günter Nagler called IMF2MID. It even comes with source code.

Sadly, IMF2MID doesn't work on the Major Stryker IMFs :cry:
