Force Feedback needs to happen!

Postby Muusi » Sat Apr 10, 2021 6:50 pm

GZDoom already has an excellent controller support, so why not complete it and make force feedback/rumble a reality? I know nothing about coding so i don't know what amount of work it would take but i think that the most popular source port should have the feature when some ports already do it too :)

Duplicate.
The issues mentioned in that thread still exist. (And will exist forever)

Excuse me for being semi-illiterare in technical talk, but is the big issue the controller API then?

Yeah i read it. It's too bad. Might not be exactly the most requested thing after all.

However, if there's someone willing to do the work but they currently don't own a controller, i'll gladly donate them money to buy a cheap Xinput controller on amazon or something: D

I am interested, at least for XInput. I have a vibrating XBox 360 controller but I have no idea where to even begin. I tried following some hello-world-tier C++ tutorials related to controller rumble but didn't get far.

I'm not sure if it's any help, but there's a thing called QuestZDoom made by DrBeef and it has haptic feedback support. Can't test it though as i don't have a Quest :( Maybe someone could check it out and find out how it's done there since it's also ZDoom :?:
