Add a new Crushed state

Post by Nash »

This is related to my rejected "Gibs = RealGibs" thread.

Since it's impossible for the two things to be one, I suggest a separate Crushed state so that I can do whatever I want when the dead monster is crushed by a ceiling/door.

Thanks.

What do you mean, "why not"?

Anyway the other thread I posted has been marked red, and Randy himself said that it's not possible for Gibs and RealGibs to be one thing.

So I think the best solution is to make a Crushed state. Then you can have things like robotic monsters smashing into a pile of mechanical parts, or organic monsters play a satisfying squish sound.

And even make larger monsters have different crushed sprites. You KNOW it just looks downright silly for a Spider Mastermind corpse to be reduced to a tiny pile of gibs when it's crushed (Doom 2 MAP06). :P

I agree with you and considering the work involved I see no problems adding it. The current crushing mechanism is a little too limited.

Is it possible to add this into the unofficial build, or is it beyond your scope? Just asking. :)

Like the face in status bar bug. Then we wouldn't have to show them all the bug reports before that.
