Limit fog's color intensity over distance

Limit fog's color intensity over distance

Post by NGX »

The suggestion is to be able to limit the fog's color intensity over distance. As is, it's only the gray color that's viable because it makes logical sense as fog. All other colors are virtually off the table for use in large outdoor areas that aren't hell landscapes. I think there is potential for more vibrant atmospheres (in the literal sense) in maps because of this.

A sunny day has visible sun rays. If you try applying a yellow color fog as atmosphere, it will look good close up but turn into a cartoon in distances past ~256-384 map units.

I would like to limit the intensity of the fog over distance. I think I've requested this before :|

I just don't want the fog to eventually fade into a solid color :blergh:

Third picture is an exaggerated illustration. It looks good close-up on the palm trees but then it goes into cartoon-mode.

I have the same wish. Even at zero density it's way too much! Maybe an alpha control would work?
