Scalable font lumps

Post by Nash »

The only way to do high res fonts currently is to make/generate hundreds of STCFN* graphics lumps that make up your font, then use this abysmal TEXTURES definition to scale each glyph down:
Spoiler:
Some people are lucky and have the means to automate this TEXTURES definition; most people aren't. ;(

How about a keyword you can stick into [wiki]FONTDEFS[/wiki] that simply allows modders to specify the font's scale factor?

Perhaps the hires replacement way would be less annoying? Have "normal res" placeholders for your font lumps in the usual place, then the high-res actual graphics in the hires folder, with the same name. No need for TEXTURES this way.

I was hoping I could just design a single, highres SmallFont.lmp and not do much else to get it to scale down to fit the 8x8 size that vanilla fonts use (to achieve that high res look)...
