Additive sprites inside additive color sectors look bad

I have a sprite that has a black background, combined with RenderStyle="Add". This is used to simulate a fake glow where white color is used. Now, if I put that sprite in a sector that has additive color, the color gets added twice, and the black background is made completely visible.

How can I fix this? Changing the black color in the sprite to alpha destroys the glowy effect.
