Changing palettes of a monster

Modding newbie here.

How is it done? I want to make a copy of the Imp that has a changed palette (ex. brown->gray). Can I do it without editing the sprites of the imp? And I can't edit the PLAYPAL palette because then it would also change the original DoomImp's color palette since I'm trying to make a duplicate monster.
