Doom 1 style map names for Doom 2 maps?

Doom 1 style map names for Doom 2 maps?

I want to try and combine my favorite aspects of Doom 1 and Doom 2.

I like the Doom 1 style progress map, map naming scheme ie (E1M1) , and music. I like everything else about Doom 2, the SSG, new monsters, textures, etc.

Right now I want to focus just on the map names.

Is it possible to make a Doom 2 map that includes Doom 2 textures, monsters, and SSG, but it's called E1M1? If so, how? I'm using slade as my map editor.

I am not a pro at all and I am not even sure if this will work but i would change the name of the mapmarker in slade to "E1M1" (or just make a map and cal it E1M1 in the mapeditor) and define the music and the map order in a mapinfo lump.

GZDoom will load up any map name. What you need to do is define a new episode then define the maps. You can check that out here and here.

If you need examples, open up gzdoom.pk3 and have a look in the MAPINFO folder then look at Doom1.txt :)
