Regardless of your intentions, you should refrain from calling anybody a hobo. Especially if you do not know that person. A bloody lip or worse may ensue. If Kappes Buur is too long for you, then simply KB will do.

GZDB is a map editor and it focuses on things that directly affect maps (i.e. the map itself and script types). Resources are used by GZDB but they need to be prepared and packaged by other tools.

It doesn't need to be Slade, but Slade is a good tool. However, if you are working with zip/pk3 files, almost anything can be used to work with them. Personally, I just use Windows explorer or 7-zip when putting stuff into a pk3. The only thing I really need a specialist tool for is setting sprite offsets (Where I either use Slade or Baghdad Spidey's grabpng).

If I'm working with older-style WAD resources, however, a specialist tool is essential.
