is there a way to change sector opacity?

Ask about mapping, UDMF, using DoomBuilder/editor of choice, etc, here!

is there a way to change sector opacity?

Post by MartinHowe »

I have defined a sector that will be used for some special effects.
It is a non-solid 3D floor that the player can walk through.
During normal gameplay the colour and fade are normal.
During special effects it is set to a colour (red for example).

However, the sides of the sector, as seen from outside, are not visible; the player only sees the colour when inside the sector.
Colouring the lines on the sides of the sector looks ugly, as it can be seen in two places at once (see screenshot).

I can make a 3D floor in GZDoom that has "fog" effects, but there seems to be no way to change the opacity of the 3d-floor during the game. Once can change the brightness, fade, etc, but not the opacity.

Please can anyone tell me if there is? a way to do this
Sector should look solid
