Camera position on automap

I guess that this is almost certainly a "can't be done" but, just in case, is there any simple way to keep the automap centred on the player position when changing cameras?

What I mean is, imagine the player accesses a console that uses a script to change the camera to view several different locations on the map. If the player was looking at the automap while doing this, the automap would jump to every camera position as the camera changes. I would like to keep the automap centred on the player position so that, if the automap was accessed during the script, it would show the area around the console where the player is standing, rather than jumping to the camera position.

My guess is that the camera is some sort of virtual player and the map has to jump to it, but I just thought that I'd ask.

No, I don't think this is possible. The automap always centers on whatever the player's Camera field points to. Which is obviously used for security cameras as well.

This is a good candidate for a feature suggestion.
