Thank You

To preface my post I feel like I need to make a few things clear. I hardly, if ever, make any posts of any kind anywhere on the internet. Please bear with me on my lack of etiquette for internet posting and formatting on a forum post. I also was not entirely sure which location on this forum a post like this should be put under so I figured the Off-Topic area would be a safe bet. I also have not composed anything in writing in a long time so I may not have proper punctuation.

I just wanted to say thank you to everybody involved in the Doom community. I am 30 years old and was a console gamer so I never got to experience doom in its height of fame. I did play Wolfenstein 3D but once my parents figured out I memorized the DOS Prompts required to access the game they deleted it. Anyway, because of you guys, the source port coders, play-testers, map makers, mod makers, and anybody else involved in the Doom community in anyway I get to catch up on Doom. I am sure there are others out there like me who haven't always played Doom and got to love old-school Doom but It is because of this community keeping old-school Doom alive that I can catch up on the doom top 100 maps and wads in the 90s, along with the Cacoward maps and wads. I have spent the past year or so perusing the ZDoom forums and thinking about the work this community has put in and continues to put in all in the name of Doom, so much so that I just felt like I had to make a post to say thank you.

I could have put in, and maybe should have put in, more of an effort into a nice long post but I am just trying to be concise in expressing my appreciation for the creative and collaborative efforts of everyone in this community. So if you are involved in this community in any way, even if it is just providing feedback to others, thank you. I'm sure it is not just myself when I say us Doom players appreciate everything this community does and I genuinely hope this community continues to grow and create new and excited things.

Cheers! I share the same sentiment, honestly.

I've always felt like I wasn't good enough to be part of any "real" modding community back in the day because I wasn't good enough. I couldn't script, model, or anything like that. Discovering the passionate Doom modding community changed this since modding for it is really easy to pick up and understand, and the switch to ZDoom was a very natural progression for me.
