When you hear/read something like "%_name_% is a Lovecraft inspired something something" what will you expect from it game/book/film/etc?

I expect something in the horror genre with surreal monsters.
Full disclosure, I have never read anything written by Lovecraft

Tentacles and eyes, maybe an early 20th century setting. Cthulhu might show up. I've never read Lovecrafts works.

I'd expect meeting entities or worlds deeply alien to humans. Things that make you feel small and unimportant in the vast universe. Things that the player cannot understand, things that a human cannot understand. A feeling that the known world is just an infinitely tiny part of the real world. To me, that's what "Lovecraftian" is about.
