i'm surprised this hasn't popped up here yet, considering a trailer dropped of it a few days ago.

it looks like a strategy game similar to XCOM in terms of design, set in 1920s era Chicago. no idea if this is related to the "Blackroom" project that had a failed Kickstarter campaign, but probably not. it has some sort of reward system on its site, where if enough people subscribe to their newsletter, more features will be added into the game.

I'm certainly into it, generally down to interest in the genre and the fact that we haven't had a truly great gangster oriented strategy game (oh, how Omerta tried and failed...). The fact that Romero and Paradox are on it is just icing on the cake to me.

I'm not a big strategy games person, so it's probably not for me. However, it does look interesting and possibly a nice change of pace from other stuff that's out there at the moment.

That one 'sleeps with the fishes' obituary in Quake really foreshadowed something....

What did happen to Blackroom? Did they say it was outright cancelled?

from what i've heard, it's not John's game, but his wife, Brenda Romero. looking at Wikipedia, she's been involved in a number of turn-based strategy games, so that checks out. John's just helping with marketing the game.

Blackroom seems to be put on hold, so no idea when it'll resurface.

Color me very, very interested. The setting hasn't had much love in much media these days, and the last era-appropriate game I liked was Gangsters 2. So yeahhhhh, I'm ready for new content.

That and I am a big fan of XCOM-styled strategy games.
