DOOM II: Eternal Boogaloo (Quakecon Reveal Thread)

Post by Jeimuzu73 »

The last thread got shut down due to some fracas over Snapmap (which unfortunately but understandably won't return in Eternal), so I started a new one so we can continue to talk more about what's in this game.

Spoiler: In a nutshell:

Still.....didn't deserve it.

Anyway back to topic, I think that if there's gonna be campaign DLC, it should cover Plutonia a little, even if it's only for little intel.
It was stated that Doom Eternal won't only take place on Earth, but in other locations like Phobos. maybe one of Jupiter's moons will be a location?

I think the other Martian moon Deimos will be another location, as a gateway to hell and some other dimensions like in the original game. Maybe even Tei Tenga will be another location as a reference to the Doom Bible.

1.. enemies seem more slow than 2016
2.. enemies seem weaker as plasma can kill very fast, wich is diferent from 2016
3.. "skin" damage ala quake 2
4.. no monster teleportation and is good, more dinamic fights

I wish they'd add back coop gameplay for the main story campaign.

The ArchVile looked pretty wicked, I have to say. The Arachnatron on the other hand... was way too adorable. It really didn't fit, at all. Like, that was borderline Pokemon cute.

Really? I mean, they definitely look like the Martians from Mars Attacks!, but I didn't see them as being out of place. Eternal looks like it's going heavy schlock. Certainly not the scariest concept I've seen of them, but they're a lot more intimidating than our friendly neighborhood (mini) Spider Demon sprite, at least.

I'd say it perfectly captures the spirit of the original monster, then. ;)

This is probably just to show off the new stuff. If it happened as fast as the actual game it would be a little hard to see what was happening. They did a similar thing for the gameplay reveal of 2016

there was gameplay shown where the player was using a mouse and keyboard, and the player's mobility was drastically higher than that of the other gameplay they showed. it can also be that the difficulty was tweaked so that the player couldn't actually die during the presentation.

Can't help but think this guy looks a bit like the boss from Demonsteele.
