Microsoft + Github Acquisition (Rumors)

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

... really? They're even conscious? They wouldn't abandon x86-64 if they were conscious. Increasing battery life isn't everything.
Apple's going to hit themselves very hard.

Didn't I already say that Tim Cook is the Steve Ballmer of Apple? Both share a really worrying trait: They have no empathy for their customers but a very strong focus on the bottom line.
We already know what happened with Ballmer when his strategy went south.

Apple would be in far deeper trouble than they already are if the general public had a better understanding of what's going on. But many Apple customers seem to be incapable of reading a company's attitude.

I don't think so. But the morons which still stick to it will pay dearly in the future. This is a typical perception problem: 9 out of 10 security issues are caused by XP which makes people conclude that 90% of business PCs run on XP.

Windows 8.1 is also good, provided you install Classic Shell to add a decent start menu.

I hate Windows 8.1 too. Too laggy and a bloated mess. Windows 10 increases bloat even more. Microsoft doesn't care what they do. Too much focus on the enterprise.

8.1 is neither laggy nor bloated. Again it's obvious that instead of doing research all you do is repeat hearsay mixed with your own bias.

I said bloated because of the useless shit that Windows 8.1 bundles.

I've run machines on Windows 7, 8.1, and 10, with absolutely no problems. The only headaches I've ever encountered have been MS changing where some of the control panels have been. No problems with Cortana because she was easy to disable. No problems with the Start Screen because Classic Shell exists. It takes me 15 minutes to convert a fresh install into an install I'm comfortable with. Have you ever actually used 8.1 or 10?

Maybe he ran it in a VM. At work I have to use a Mac so when doing Windows it will be with a VM. And that's extremely sluggish, regardless of version.

Given how he posts here, I think you're giving him way too much credit, Graf - but okay I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

At any rate, it usually runs fine if you give it enough memory. 8 gig or more is enough for it to be comfortable, in my experience. Anything less is a slug fest, even on bare metal hardware.
