Who here likes guns? I mean really likes guns?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

I ordered all new shotgun shells for house defense. The new ammunition is Federal Premium "Vital - Shok" 2 3/4" 00 Buckshot (in 12 gauge, obviously). Federal makes some of the best ammunition around, (they are who I trust my life to in my hollowpoint carry ammunition in my handguns for self-defense), and this particular shell is very well reviewed. It is high velocity and holds a very tight pattern, making it ideal for stopping a threat in a house invasion situation, God forbid.

I'm going to go to the gun range and fire one shell each at three different distances to compare the pattern spread, for anyone interested in knowing. (And for my own knowledge.)

2 3/4" 00 Buckshot in 12 Gauge has a total of nine .33 caliber slugs per shell.

Think of how much damage those shells would do if they were loaded into a Nock gun!

Okay, so I got some results with the new shell. I understand now why it has such high praise in reviews as a home defense cartridge. The pattern tightness is amazing. At 5 feet, you couldn't even tell it was Buckshot, it hit more like a solid slug. In each picture I circled the the primary pattern in green and the whole entire pattern in red, just to differentiate if there was a stray buckshot slug that went rogue from the main group. lol. The large hole that is with the group at some points is from the plastic wadding that holds the "shot" pressed together away from the gunpowder and everything else. That's why at 15 feet it just kind of fell off and did its own thing like a high speed paper airplane losing momentum. lol If you ever go to a shotgun range and see a bunch of plastic things a little bit farther out than the spent shells, that's what that is. At any rate, here's the picture. I am very satisfied with this purchase, and completely loaded up the pump shotgun's magazine and shell ride on the buttstock with this ammunition for house defense, as well as the buttstock ride on the double barrel shotgun, (but I don't use the double barrel for any kind of defensive purposes. I bought that entirely for novelty because I think they are cool. You know, thanks to the Doom games.) I didn't get to test at 20 feet or farther, but I imagine at 20 feet all 9 slugs of this shell type would still hit center mass, although I have no data to verify this.

Recoil wise, it felt a little meaner to fire than the other brand 2 3/4" 00 Buckshot 12 gauge that I'm used to, but I can still handle it. (After that 3" Magnum 00 Buckshot 12 gauge, this is still pretty timid. lmao.)

Sorry for double post, friends. I took out the fancy .300 AAC Blackout carbine, and it continues to impress. Using the "back up" 90° side iron sights and the laser sight, I was able to continuously hit bullseye. I then tried rapid firing (about groups of 2-3 at a time) and still stayed within the center circles. (I did not use the scope at all on the target in this picture.)

Yes, I know I'm necroposting the guns thread, but I didn't really feel like starting a new one and wanted to share.

Over the last year or so I've "finished" my AR (haha it's never finished)...

And wanted to show off my new lower Receiver engraving I just got done! (yes I know the hand-guard is different but I don't have a good picture of the new one at the moment)

Also finally went to a local USPSA match for the first time since the pandemic started! Feels good to get behind a trigger again. Ammo is so expensive tho :stuppor:

In terms of guns.

Specific types I like are the Glock 17 Gen 3, The 1911 series, Beretta's 92FS in the pistol categories.

In shotgun, I have a soft spot for remington and winchester.

In SMG, I love the H&K stuff.

But this is all coming from someone who doesn't own any one of these.

I owned a Glock 17 Gen 4. Sold it as I prefer my custom HK VP9. A few years ago I owned a Desert warrior Kimber, but it was a jammomatic.
I also owned the brand new HK SP5 (that was actually made to look like the MP5) but was having troubles with it, I sold it to a gunsmith that really wanted it for his personal collection. So we made a deal.
I probably owned about 14 AK's throughout my life and will be buying a new AK (A AKMN civilian version to be procise). I am just finishing a FN SCAR 17S build, and currently have a M1A that is in pretty rough shape, I am going to give the M1A a completely new make over as I found a Custom EBR Chassis kit for it. Hopefully By the time I get my new AK (which should be very soon) I will get a new camera and start posting gunporn on here of my new stuff.

Really glad this thread got necro'd. reading through it was awesome. also really happy to see most peoples opinions on whole gun subject, really level headed and open minded. personally have a really weird position where i grew up surrounded by ex-service family members, couple of family/friends who hunt for sport/fun, and a really deep fascination with firearms. but who also hasn't touched a firearm in over 8 years and fully supports my country's gunlaws?

Was privileged enough to get to experience pretty fair range of weapons handling growing up. And a have very healthy respect for firearms.

bunch of shotguns 10g/12g/.410 -pump/db/single (saw a 12g autoloader fired once.. Wow)
bunch of rifles -.22 bolt/lever. .30-06 pump. .303 number 4 jungle carbine. tikka .243 bolt.
favorite of all time was a spanish mauser copy (95 i think) chambered into modern 7mm (so we could actually source ammo)
also got to fire a SKS once (pre-amnesty) which was way more fun and loud then it should be.

more then likely wont end up owning anything but always interested to watch/hear about others

Necro thread! Necro thread!

I've got a few firearms - basically, one rifle and a couple pistols, plus some historic firearms:

-Mini-14 with a barrel stabilizer and modernized stock conversion installed.
-Ruger SR-1911
-Colt 1860 Army converted to fire .45 Colt (smokeless, but they have to be the low-pressure Cowboy action loadings)

-A fishtail matchlock musket in .75 caliber
-A 1620 English lock musket also in .75 caliber

Both of the muskets are functional and a blast to shoot... less fun to clean afterwards, lol.

Such a good rifle.

I made mine look like some kind of counterfeit M14:

The last big mod I want to do is to add a buttplate compartment, wherein I will probably end up repurposing an M16A1 trapdoor buttplate. Also add the sling swivels for a cotton sling to get the complete look.
