The modding community of many games are surprisingly still active for many games, I'm just curious to know what other mods out there that could be considered "notable" or even ground breaking.
Some examples I've seen so far:
Mental Omega & twisted insurrection for C&C, red alert 2 and Tiberian Sun respectively
Both of these mods are basically total conversions (twisted insurrection is even stand alone) that basically change their respective campaigns, add a new faction, and even a shit ton of new units. Also by almost sheer coincidence, the story of both basically involves the bad guy winning.
X-Piratez for OpenXCom (can't link it here because parts of it are NSFW as fuck)
Another TC made from the openXCom engine that turns xcom from a tactical game into a roleplaying game where you lead a band of female mutant pirates in their run of glory and victory on the ravaged planet of earth because xcom failed horibly
Payne Evolution Enhanced
Max Payne 3 if it had less story, the plot of max Payne 2 and had an older engine. This basically ports most of max Payne 3's game-play into max Payne 2 with features like weapon limits, more gun variety, last stand mechanics, and even weapon attachments.
Any other mods out there that you guys think that are pretty good that are not necessarily in moddb?
