What's your thoughts about this total Solar eclipse?
What do you think about once you seen the eclipse happening?
Re: What's your thoughts about this total Solar eclipse?
Overhyped and anticlimactic. All I saw was it getting a little bit darker, no different than a cloud passing by the sun.

I hated it because it happened on the other side of the world.

Too much hype really. I'm half way across the world to care.

Well, I woke up at 2am to drive four hours and wait four more to see it. Been literally waiting for this day for 20 years.
If you weren't in the totality, then you have no fucking idea. It's magical. It's otherworldly. There's literally nothing like it. The whole world turns dark, until you look at the horizon and realize you're surrounded by what seem to be blood-red sunsets in every direction. The air turns shiver-cold. For two brief minutes there's a pitch-black hole in the sky with white fire coming off the edges, and you don't need welding goggles anymore. Then for a precious few seconds after the totality it looks like a brilliant backlit diamond ring, as if the universe itself is proposing to the Earth.
My heart just about jumped out of my chest and I nearly shed tears, gripping my wife's hand until I thought I might break it. Pictures don't do justice. It was like watching the end of the world.

Wow Cali. That's a beautiful description of it. Now I kinda wish I was in the path of totality. XD

@Caligari87 I seen it the same way like you did. I was in carbondale illinois there were so many people there seeing the totality and was awesome the sky turned dark you can see the stars, and all you can see was a white ring around the moon. The temperature down here was near 90 to 93 degrees and when the eclipse happened it got dark the temperature dropped about 20 degree. You can definitely feel that somethings wasn't right about the sun begin block by the moon. When the sun started to show again you can see like a diamond glowing from the outer layer of the moon.
What experience that I had and I cannot wait until 7 years to see it again in 2024, and the next time the path is going right through Indiana its one of a lifetime experience so I'm very happy that I've got to see it for the 1st time.

I missed the part where it completely covered.
It does look really cool though.

One word: Cool.
Re: What's your thoughts about this total Solar eclipse?
I wonder what flat earthers think about the eclipse
Re: What's your thoughts about this total Solar eclipse?
There's an article about that somewhere... I wish I could remember where I saw it.
Re: What's your thoughts about this total Solar eclipse?
IIRC they were claiming it was safe to look at the sun and that eclipse glasses were "NASA CGI goggles."
Coincidentally, Google searches containing "eyes hurt" spiked during the 21st.
