Little Timmy Willits is the reason why ID is still a shambling corpse. I think it's time he retires like all the old guard have. ID can't keep up with console kiddie generation and even Bethesda doesn't seem to trust them with being able to do anything right.

While I'm in support of Tim retiring, I'd rather it be for the right reasons: his misguided support for always-on DRM and his sincere belief that new games make it too hard to release modding tools.Xtyfe wrote:Little Timmy Willits is the reason why ID is still a shambling corpse. Exactly, either the corporate suits have gotten to him or he's totally lost touch with reality. Either way he shouldn't be developing at the level he does with attitudes like that.

Re: Quake Champions (from E3 2016)
Another Quake Champions Interview.
To summarise: Still Not A MOBA, Q1-inspired level theme, Q3-inspired player movement, no loadouts, character abilities give you new options in certain situations "without changing the way you play Quake", absolutely no clue how they're gonna monetise it yet.

Well I'll be fucked, looks like they learned something after all. So wait, is this going to be a f2p/p2w?

As I mentioned in the summary, they haven't decided yet.Xtyfe wrote:So wait, is this going to be a f2p/p2w?
Re: Quake Champions (from E3 2016)
Good. That was what I was really concerned about. Not a huge fan of the different characters with different abilities, because there's no way to really play around it. If they were items you pick up, for example, if you didn't want your opponent to have that wall-hack visor, you could control it.Kinsie wrote:no loadouts

Oh, is it now?GC: I don’t think you’ve said, but how are you monetising the game?
TW: We haven’t talked about that yet. We’re still working that out. But we do want to make sure we have as many people as we can. I mean Quake Live has been free-to-play since 2008, but we’ll figure something out that’s inclusive enough.

Quake Live has not been free for a while now.

Exactly my point. It seems Willits has forgotten this.
Re: Quake Champions (from E3 2016)
Quake just turned 20 yesterday, so I thought I'd celebrate by playing the original. FSR the mouse keeps moving even though I haven't moved the mouse physically which makes things a little more dizzy.

Because so much came out of the incredibly user-friendly RAGE mod tools.
Re: Quake Champions (from E3 2016)
did they do the same thing as Quake 2? and slap the Quake name on the product on last minute? that's clearly a different game.

They made the tools such a huge pile of shit didn't they? Saying that "New games make me scurrred" is no excuse.Kinsie wrote:Because so much came out of the incredibly user-friendly RAGE mod tools.
