Ghost rings, it's called.. and it's a well known, and highly used sighting system. Even using the M4A1's iron sights. Comparing the two.. the FN FAL and the M14 both share the same sight.

In a way yes the M14 also use a ghost ring ,but the one on the FAL is always depicted with a more obstructed view,like the hole is not large enough.

Most renditions of the FAL in games are like that,i just cant see s**t with it.

The M14 on the other hand doesnt seem too obstructed since the hole of the ghost ring on that one is larger and the V at the tip of the barrel is more thin and better shaped.

Yeah i just saw his Thompson video not long ago,like always he did a fantastic job covering it.
