This may not match the genre perfectly, but it's as authentic as you can get.
(From what I can tell, most genre labels are just a device for people to feel superior to other people who "don't get it".)
How about something that sounds like it comes right off a VHS tape? (It'd be even more convincing with the right visuals.)
