FOR HONOR

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

FOR HONOR

Please tell me I am not the only one hyped about a viking fighting a medieval swordsman fighting a samurai in a 4v4 multiplayer where jockeying for sword position actually matters.

Yes, it's an Ubisoft published game. But guess what?!

This game just came out of nowhere during E3. And I am digging the class based factions and the swordplay that actually makes your sword stance matter. Correct positions block, anything else gets you wrecked.

Um, what? Do you have more context? I assume this is a game, right?

Updating first post, please wait!

Edit: Done, whoops. Maybe I am the only one who noticed them during E3...

I did catch this during the E3 stream but it didn't really catch my eye until now, i guess i should have looked more closely instead of seeking just for the games i was interested :p.

Digging the warrior selection, vikings, samurais, genericeuropeanswordsmen.

Huh? Looks nothing alike. Blade Symphony has seemingly no focus on stance jockeying. It's cool but not what I'm looking for in a sword fighting game either.

...from what appears to be going on in the video I think this finally hit a reasonable balance for an easy-to-learn, hard-to-master swordfighting game!

It does, actually. Three levels of stances, lots of interactivity between them, priorities and weapon trajectories to manage, cancels, feints, and so on. It's fairly technical.

What's really interesting is that the video for Blade Symphone I saw, while explaining all of that detail that goes into each swipe and stab, still came off as incredibly arcadish where the goal is to still swipe with extremely acrobatic feats at your opponent. It didn't even remotely LOOK technical despite how technical the details it gave out were.
