Above is info about what the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is. I'm too unbothered to form an opinion now, but I wanted to post this here.

You call that *INFO*? There's hardly a word of real information there, just fearmongering and FUDing.
Better read up on Wikipedia if you want to know the facts.

It seems like this is simply an instance of a unified law that will replace several existing ones, because most if not all of the "threats" are already in place.

For instance, copyrighted works not reaching the public domain until 70 years after the author's death has been the case since 1978, the government has been ordering ISPs to block certain websites for years now, and the $10,000 fine is a standard punishment for piracy (it has been levied at people bringing pirated DVDs into the US, for example).

It really seems that whoever made that leaflet really ought to have done a bit of fact checking.

Ah, this one. I didn't see any recent news affect the US just yet, but it is still of a paralegal concern. This is what you call the WTO and thus the urban chaos of the 90s. Let the Battle of Seattle, return! Let the riots, return! Let the 9/11s, return! We'll make history (don't hurt me)! Muahahah! (If that's the way you really feel, then kindly get off this forum. -ww)

But seriously, the topic is mostly concerned about intellectual properties (but really internet freedoms) and so forth. However, this WTO variant seems to be now of a bundle of industrial interests. That reminds me of the recent SOPA of Japan for its required protection of the commerce over its copyrights/trademarks. I am more concerned about the stuff that affects imperial influence, but of course, I am most concerned about the liberties and the very livelihoods given to the people of this country. It appears that the imperial forces are agents that craves for our blood and our souls. Better put up a front to thwart off the forces destroying the heart of democracy.

Don't forget the EU equivalent that is every bit as nasty.

And here's one for the Canadians too as well as the EU again. (in fact this one is at a further advanced stage than the other two)
