Good riddance. Shame on the modders who sold out, their true colours were so easily revealed because of this.
I still maintain the idea has merit but nothing about Beth/Zeni's and Valve's execution was good. Period. And I'm not confident in their 2nd try going too much better given that even Greenlight's debut didn't cause this much ruckus.
As for the modders, I'm torn between thinking effort should have a chance to be rewarded, giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they didn't QUITE know what they were getting in to, and just figuring "Fuck it and fuck these guys" because when even the SkyUI guy hopped on board something was wrong---not to mention the poster boy of the paid mod experiment being that skeletal suit of armor that was badly patched together.
Something REALLY rubs me the wrong way about this whole debacle, even with the offending feature removed.
EDIT: Saw some posts on Reddit from one of the SkyUI devs. With personalities like that at the heart of this matter I'm no longer surprised everything went as wrong as it did.
FUCK THIS HOBBY.
