Hi! I'm from Doomworld and Moddb. I'm the creator of The Lost Levels Phase 1 for Freedoom. (It was my first mod, don't be too harsh.) I thought I would come check out the ZDoom community, since GZDoom is my favorite source port. :D

don't expect complete freedom, there are some rules and you can end up being banned easilly

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker in this forum since I got introduced to doom modding by Brutal Doom in 2016 (yes I know). I've been playing and watching the community with a growing fascination for 2 years, and now I finally want to get into mapping, modding etc. I first need to familiarize myself with SLADE and the like. But my biggest challange is finding a way to properly organize my Doom folder. I eventually want to be able to mod other games and stuff, and maybe even someday release a quality standalone game using the engine.

I too got into it in 2016, I finally got a laptop to play anything at all. had been looking forward to it for years.
with the remake of doom and brutal doom being so popular at the time, this was the only thing I could play at the time.
I got to know some people I could call friends for a short ammount of time, wanted to play something with them but never got to.

Hey guys, complete newbie here. I only just started playing classic doom this year after falling in love with the Adventure of Square and I totally fell into the zdoom rabbit hole. Really impressed to see such a vibrant modding community for a game that's older than me haha. Never mapped before in my life but maybe that'll change in the future. It's been a really long time since I've gotten hooked into a game like Doom and I hope I stay hooked for a while.

Hello hello!
I don't even remember how I got into Doom, (it's been so long that it's sort of been a part of my mind for what feels like all my life,) but I've been lurking around this forum for years for mods, and only now decided to make an account. I've been pleasantly surprised to see that the community for this game remains so vibrant and populated, even after all these years. Hope to become well acquainted here!

considering the possibilities of gzdoom I think it will get a little more popular in the future and we will see a few games like ion maiden coming out of it.

Was new here a few years ago (~2014), but didn't post for a while (and tend to be a lurker by nature). Was summarily pruned, but like an unruly plant, I am persistent, so here I am again. O-)

Got introduced to Doom back in 1993 through the programmer in my parent's office, though haven't had a chance to play the newest ones.

Found out about ZDoom through friends. I am personally more into spriting than mapping, though I appreciate all the various crafts involved in content creation.

Earlier this year I was part of a mega man charity stream that included some mega man 8-bit deathmatch, and some friends in the community immediately recognised it and were quick to point out it was built on ZDoom.

Glad to be back.

Hi. I have registered on these forums 10 years ago, asked some questions related to ZDoom modding and then went on a long hiatus. Since then I have been an active lurker. I am an aspiring game developer still learning the ropes but am progressing steadily. I'd like to try something in the ZDoom engine (GZDoom respectively) especially since the ZScript has been introduced. Let's hope I have at least a bit of a talent.
