Hai everyone! I'm Matt, I've just celebrated my first year of doom, I'm a music producer and I'm planning to learn ACS/Decorate anytime now.
I'm quite young for a doom player too, and I find the fact that most people are older than and have more experience than me quite intimidating.(I'm only 14!)

My introduction to Doom wasn't very favorable, similar to Devianteist's one: I was introduced in the doom community by Brutal Doom. I hadn't heard of other mods and I thought that brutal doom was the only thing that made doom cool (pretty stupid).
This was a pity since I was so centred on this idea that I lost six months(!) to that stupid obsession.

I was always searching for Brutal doom compatible maps addons and such... I was pretty much lost. Until I started feeling the urge of modding doom.
That was the turning point. I installed Slade (I had a bit of experience in scripting languages) and tried to edit a few parts of
a brutal doom based mod and boy it was a sudden realization: brutal doom was a great mess, to the point of spending days just to edit one sound effect.
I gave up on brutal doom because of
another sudden realization: the gore was just TOO MUCH for me. I put a blind Eye on it before that.
Another part of my story was me , after learning aout what zdoom and gzdoom could do, I would be searching for and small hint of 3D or slopes in a map
But most of them weren't compatible with brutal doom ...Gaaah! There was a problem, that really bugged me. I couldn't realy play the amazing maps such
as morgenstern and kdizd because of my obsession (part of it was because I thought brutal doom made things "faster"). So yeah, I ended up on the zdoom forums thanks to Nash and loismustdie555.
My first reaction was literally "OH my GOOOD pls". I read the rules(I don't wan't to make mistakes or bother people), read "Reagarding Brutal Doom" by wildweasel
and looked through the original bd post. I couldn't even believe what happened, and I am thankful to all of you people that made me open my eyes.
When I truly stopped playing brutal doom (a few exceptions that I'l talk about later), I felt the feeling of a "90's kid" unboxing doom for the first time,
You could really do anything with doom! You could become the trailblazer, Blakowicz in Blade of Agony and many more... I got also the chance to play the amazing maps in Dump
2 and Winter's Fury. For the second time I fell in love with doom, Thanks to amazing people.
Now, I have learnt the lesson and I scarcely play brutal doom based mods any more(except maybe for Jhonny doom and maybe whaen it comes out , magitek doom),
I even recently finished my first vanilla completion of E1 trough E4.

So yeah, now I feel again the urge to create, I might post my first map, if people want, I can produce music for their wads, even maybe do graphical resources
(not sure at all). I will mainly do music and it will be absolutely free! (anyways who would buy it).

I like hanging around in the forums, play maps (especially zdoom stuff), again, I would thank anyone who would tell me Where to learn ACS and Decorate in the context of doom
Tell me if I said something that bothers you or if I said was mildly arrogant. I'll make sure I lock my self in my room for 15 days and cry and repent.
I'll try to be as nice and mature as I can. And also I am a messy person. That means I might do messy code.Please tell me if I did that.

Hello, my name is Enjay and I used to play and mod Doom.

I couldn't think where else to put this. Not worth starting a new thread.

For those who remember me, I hope I'll have a bit more time to myself over the next few months and so, with any luck, I'll be able to get back to a bit of Dooming. Not sure how much time I'll have, but it can't be any less than I've had over the last year or more.

To all the people who sent me PMs while I was away; I just checked my inbox and it was full of messages, some of which were well over a year old. I'm guessing that many of the messages will now be redundant but if anyone needs to get back in touch for something, please send a new message (there were too many to reply to individually).

Resource requests: If you had sent me a message asking for permission to use some of my resources (a few of them seemed to be that), the answer is yes. No need to re-ask.
