[quote="Sodaholic"how the hell did this happen? [/quote]
Probably a friction mark due to sleep movement, or an allergy.
The former happens to me sometimes.

Yeah, the ones from Half-Life 2 were actually quite enjoyable. It also helped immensely that Alyx wasn't the most annoying character ever, and even had good pathfinding skills. Hell, even your allies in the "Anti-Citizen One" episode of base Half-Life 2 weren't complete klutzes, and I wouldn't mind more like this in today's games.Zippy wrote:They're often not done well, but that doesn't mean they can't be. A lot of Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2 involved progressing forward with Alyx in tow, and they put a lot of effort into keeping the escort experience smooth. The biggest thing is that they impress upon you how she's capable of handling herself. The only way she's ever really going to be in danger is if you kick back and do nothing, expecting her to handle everything.LilWhiteMouse wrote:Replaying Traffic Department 2192. Escort missions should be universally banned from gaming. I don't think I've ever played one that I genuinely enjoyed. The AWACS escort mission in Robotech Battlecry is perhaps the worst I've ever played. Anyone who claims to have beaten it, I call BS.

RELOAD, DOCTOR FREEMAN
*ahem*
They were decent otherwise, though. I just wonder how that part slipped past the playtesters.

I'm always shocked when I hear people actually enjoyed those parts in HL2. It was even worse in Episode 1, because the entire game basically turned into one long escort mission with captain obvious. It also lead to numerous games with "sassy sidekick" syndrome*.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Finding out that Im dying of really bad flu and whatnot, Im spending the day thinking how much this will mess my paycheck. And in the meantime, I made a little edit of Perkristian's smooth weapons, just to add a little recoil by changing the pitch.
I guess I could call this thing "Perkristian's Smooth Weapons: Seizure edition" thanks to the fast firing weapons, and the BFG. But still, I felt I needed to do that with my files. In case anyone wonders, this doesnt affect the aiming, since the pitch is restored before the weapon is ready to fire again. Is more of a visual thing.
I dont feel is worth to release and call it a project, mostly because is a cheap 10 min edit, I havent got any permissions, and I dont even feel like people really like that "effect"

Started playing and thoroughly enjoying Stealth Bastard. I don't even like puzzle games and I'm liking this one.

In the port of the FS1 campaign for FS2, the AI is much more potent so certain missions (Such as when you have to defend 3 cargo transports from Shivans) become really hard and nigh impossible to win them 100% (since the enemies actually tend to use missiles)Ghastly_dragon wrote:Yes, that's always hilarious. I never found the escort missions in that game really annoying, but there were a lot of them.

I'm presuming DBT is using 150% hyperbole to emphasise his point.

One more exam tomorrow... then it's three weeks dedicated solely to four more exams and a homework. That will be so more boring rather than stressful and exciting like these last two weeks (4 exams, 3 tests, 4 projects).

Dang, I remember when I had the swine flu. I was seriously laying in a bed moaning all day. It was horrible.Sodaholic wrote:Wait, are you really at risk of death? I hope you don't die.DBThanatos wrote:Finding out that Im dying of really bad flu and whatnot,

Beginning to have some serious identity and just general future issues. I don't know how much longer I can go without psychiatric help (it's not like I'm purposely trying to put something like this off!)

If you're below the poverty line, you might be able to apply for medicaid. That would cover things like psychiatric treatment and dental.

There's also no psychiatrist in this small town.Snarboo wrote:If you're below the poverty line, you might be able to apply for medicaid. That would cover things like psychiatric treatment and dental.

I'd say "Move to a bigger town" if I knew it was that simple. Having lived in one for a too-long time, I think being in a small town might actually be part of the problem.
