Dialogue doesn't work in coop.....?

:/

Huh. That was... unknown to me.

Is this applicable to the ordinary strife scripting you can use in regular maps as well? I may need to rethink my own project....

In Zandronum I can never manage to get past the first page of a Strife dialogue. Pressing any key exits the dialogue as if you chose the "Thanks, bye!" option. Talking to the normal peasants kinda makes them lag a bit and skip around.

Dunno about ZDoom multiplayer.

Strife doesn't exactly strike me as the best game to play co-op with, though.

I was worried about the Strife Dialog Format, since you can use that in other zdoom based projects and I was planning on doing the same.

How will you handle the sigil pieces and awkward events such as

-I plan to use a system where staying hidden for a certain amount of time (about 30 sec-1 min) will cause the monsters and alarms to get off you, Metal Gear style, as well as having the dialogue option reset to where it is able to proceed. (Harris's quest will probably be doable even without ending the game, but I don't think this is any big deal).
-The idea I thought up was to have players do some kind of vote whenever there is a decision that will affect the game's path. For example,
Spoiler: Story

a special menu comes up, and all players can vote on an option. That's probably going to be the most complicated part of this thing, but it should work.
-I plan to have a designated "Sigil Holder," one player who wields the Sigil at a time. He can choose another player as Sigil Holder, and if he disconnects, someone else will become the Sigil Holder. The number of Sigil pieces collected so far will be tracked, so if everyone disconnects, then someone else joins (if this is a Zandronum server), he can get the Sigil. I'll probably make the boss fight harder by making the boss spawn in more enemies, just so the other players have to help (since you can only kill the main boss with the Sigil).

This is probably something you want to send a bug report on instead of just dancing around the issue in an overcomplicated manner.

Hasn't Strife dialogue always been broken in multiplayer?

Strife's dialogue specifically ( as in, not the system, but what Strife uses it for ) its probably pretty easy to "break" in multiplayer ( sequence-wise, anyway ) due to the script not being designed with it in mind, but the feature itself is meant to be used for whatever - and certain exceptions have been made for it to be used in multiplayer things, such as not pausing the game while a dialogue box is open if there's more than one player.

Hell, Stronghold uses it for certain things ( unless I'm misremembering ) and that's meant to have multiplayer support. If that dialogue system is busted in Zandronum, then a made-for-ZDoomish-multiplayer mod is busted as well.

Going back and fourth in the portals of Hexen in Zan would usually crash. I didn't think it really fancies hub maps. Does that happen in Stronghold too?
I think some of Strifes maps would have to be remade to suite multiple people as well. Also wouldn't you have to play the whole game beginning to end? I mean new players joining half way without weapons, keys etc would be screwed, not to mention every decision you make early on in the game will effect what happens later and all that would be lost, not to mention some troll could join and start punching the docile Acolytes and NPCs.
