That's super cool! But can't you just use 3D models? It's a lot faster and looks every bit as good, but perhaps requires a bit more fiddling.abbuw wrote:I think I've got my cool volumetric light technology trademarked(R) down to a science. A very laggy science. Instead of eyeballing each sprite, I'm using evil confusing simple mathematics to get them all the right size. Each one of these light beams is composed of 57 tightly packed sprites. Standing in the middle of one of these drops my framerate on my cheap laptop to about 30 FPS, but it looks real purty, especially when you slap one of those warp things in ANIMDEFS on the sprite. plz no steal

Re: The WIP Thread
Sure) Nimrod is pretty cool TC. But weapons in this mod seemed to me unconvincing and unsatisfying. Also, this guns use the PSX Doom weapon sounds. I adore PSX sounds, really, but they totally unsuitable for this guns. So, i'm decided to remake this weapons and make'em more bad-ass, powerful and satisfying)YukesVonFaust wrote: Is that weapon pack for the Nimrod TC?
Thanks a lot!YukesVonFaust wrote: it looks cool!
Thank youCaptain J wrote:But those sounds and special effects are SUPERB!

I'm not entirely sure if 3D models would be better. I think you'd notice the clipping through the model more than the super soft clipping with the really faint sprites, and I don't think a 3D model would provide enough volume. And I don't know how to operate any of the popular 3D software.TDRR wrote:

Here's a webm of the effect in motion.

Weapons feel better with new sounds (for the most part), yes.GAA1992 wrote:Hellkrieger. So now it has a name. Also, how you did the stats bar? Is it inherited from Strife?
Looks great so far, the weapons feel very nice.
The stats bar is basically the strife ammo/weapons/key menu.

My try to implement "gun that shoots rocket propelled red bull sized cans that explode on impact" in gzdoom.

Re: The WIP Thread
Nice weapon model and mechanic and all, but i think the can-sized-exploding-godly-deadly projectile itself seems pretty weak in my opinion! Other than that, it's working as the original Bolter intended.
Re: The WIP Thread
That because Im trying to sit on two chairs, dont make it too OP and make it able to replace pistol, shotgun, double barrelled shotgun, chaingun and rocket launcher at he same time.
But yes, in this video its a little bit weak, since the original bolter is tear apart infantry (which means "everybody who is without power armor") in one shot.

Yeah, the barrel is from Gloom Deluxe. The rest is the usual kitbash from multiple disparate sources.

Sometimes blurry look can be awesome and fitting, too. It's very acceptable!

Re: The WIP Thread
No way. Noooooo waaaaaay!! I know Spy VS Spy as well! I haven't seen any more game like this one before. Looks promising and follows the original style nicely. And i do hope there are some clever and silent ways to assassinate your enemies!
