News from 16 April 2001

Post by randi »

Bad news for Linux users: I was trying to update to XFree86-4.0.3 tonight and was installing several rpms it depended on when somehow the list of installed rpms on my system went "poof". So now rpm thinks I have nothing installed, which makes installing anything difficult.

Unless anyone can offer some advice on getting this information back, this means that Linux ZDoom 1.23 will not be released until sometime after the Win32 version, when I feel like taking the time to reinstall Linux. On the plus side, this gives me an excuse to update to a more current Linux distribution. (Right now, I have RedHat 6.0 plus a custom kernel and several updated packages.) Anyone want to recommend a good distribution? Right now I'm looking at either Mandrake 7.2 or RedHat 7.1.

Also, if you have any translations for ZDoom, please send them to me.
