ZDoom 2.1.1

Post by randi »

ZDoom 2.1.1 is now available. It fixes a few minor issues that were found in 2.1.0.

It's good that new-big-version bug fixing is underway so soon.

When compiling under Linux, I get some

Code: Select all

src/am_map.cpp:1153: warning: ‘tmp$x’ may be used uninitialized in this function
(more)
Of course, gcc cannot always find out if it is ok that these be uninitialized, what is your opinion about these?
Please also try compiling with -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 and check the places it warns about.

The variable is always initialized but in a way the compiler can't recognize.

Yes I know that - this issue pops up more or less regularly on the linux kernel mailing list. But sometimes, positives sneak in :-)

And also it's beginning to annoy the hell out of me. The wrw, Æons of Death, arsenal and all the other weapon mods aren't working because they have decorate items which have a pickup state which 2.1.1 doesn't recognise. :x Why the hell is this???

The pickup state requires inheriting from CustomInventory. The original .96x behavior wasn't adopted for reasons of robustness.

@jimmy: considering it takes the whole of a minute or so to correct this problem, I'd hardly say it's worth complaining about. Afterall, .96x was unofficial and unsupported whilst it was in development.

Well, complain to the authors: They're using out of date standards and it's their job to maintain the WADs.

That reminds me- I need to give my old weapons a good sweep and make sure they're still working as intended.
