ZDoom 2.1.0

Post by randi »

After what probably seems like forever, ZDoom 2.1.0 is out. Compared to 2.0.98, it has vastly improved DECORATE features and numerous bug fixes.

And, yes, you once again have the option of keeping your items when you die in cooperative play, just like in 2.0.63a. But now it really is an option, so you can still punish yourself with a pistol start after death if you like that sort of thing.

This is also the first official release of ZDoom with custom weapon support.

There is alsa a new ACC 1.40 to go along with this release.

That was unexpected.

Edit: Aaand...

...I was able to chainsaw the map01 lift secret imps through the wall :P

Actually something's weird with hitscan collision; no bullet puffs on doors.

Yep, shootable door in E1M2 won't open.

Turning off my compat options fixed it. It's the 'self-referencing sectors' one to be specific.

Yeah no bullet puffs on any 2-sided line it seems.

Don't forget to update ACC for the latest additions as well.

I'm glad I got those last two bug reports in before you released it. In any case, thanks for fixing them before releasing. This is the first release since 1.22 to compile in Linux out of the box.

I'm not surprised that that option causes some problems. But why are you turning all options on? Most are there to disable bugfixes (some serious) that break old maps and this is one of the most stupid of all. AFAIK there's one place in one map that needs it (Alien Vendetta MAP15.)

I know. I was just wondering if it could be fixed. If not, I'll stick to using it when necessary.

Hurrah! What's it do?

No seriously... anything major and cool (other than decorate), just an overall update to the engine?

Holy shit at the bugs. well, that was expected.

Now I hope this is floating point now (286 people will just have to cry).
