News from 31 May 2003

I was recently informed that Doom Connector supports ZDoom, so I added a little button to take you to their site. For now it's at the top of the page until I can find a more permament location for the link. (I really need to prettify these pages.)

Coincidentally, I've been working on some improved net code lately. It's still undergoing testing, but perhaps most important is that it fixes the consistancy failures that usually occured after a few levels of a co-op game (and maybe deathmatch?). Additionally, using -dup 2 or higher no longer reduces the frame rate. So if you use -dup 2, it still runs at full speed instead of 17 FPS. The same goes for -dup 5; it no longer drops you to a measly 7 FPS.

Another improvement over 2.0.47 that I've added is that the game is no longer locked at 35 FPS. It will run as fast as your computer can handle. I always thought Doom looked fine at 35 FPS before, but now I see how wrong I was. 200+ FPS makes 35 FPS look like a slide show!
