Re: Vanilla Doom Behavior (Pixel Art)
I was just using PrBoom+, and have decided to use it instead of Eternity. It does support the -complevel parameter and its apparently more accurate than regular PrBoom. I would say that PrBoom+ is more accurate then Eternity. So its a keeper. My dream source port lol. I'm not going to use mouselook ...

Re: Vanilla Doom Behavior (Pixel Art)
Are you sure you didn't confuse PrBoom with PrBoom+ ? Yes I did. My bad. I'm going to try out PrBoom+. It has these settings that can make Doom behave like v1.2-v1.9. That's really cool. Well at least PrBoom does, I'm going to check if PRBoom+ has the same settings. The thread title change is ...

Re: Monsters Get Stuck Over Dropoffs and Sector Sounds
Go play Chocolate Doom, or if you want features X, Y and Z, go play PrBoom+ and Eternity. I tried out PrBoom+ and found it to be like an outdated Eternity. I think the last PrBoom+ build was from 2008. They both have the same menu background and options menu font, so they must be similar. Except ...

Re: Smooth mouse movement?
The best way I can describe it is that when mouselooking with this option disabled, your view would "jitter" 2-3 pixels upward / download instead of moving smoothly. This sounds like a problem with your mouse. I use mouselook with smooth movement disabled and have no jitter. But, my mouse is also ...

Re: Using ZDoom to emulate classic Doom Engine experience?
No, he wouldn't. At the time, CPUs sucked (fastest = Pentium 66MHz), the ISA bus was terribly slow, VLB options were rare, PCI video hasn't caught on, and the VESA standard was nowhere near as widespread. He couldn't even implement a 15bpp mode (which would suck anyway, since 15bpp lacks the darker ...

Re: Using ZDoom to emulate classic Doom Engine experience?
320x200 is "poop" now? Kids these days... Chocolate Doom is meant to be like that, and it's meant to have those bugs also. It intends to be a faithful recreation of the original doom executable complete with its original errors and limits. It's not supposed to "upscale" the graphics or enhance ...

Re: Using ZDoom to emulate classic Doom Engine experience?
I have been trying to get the same experience out of Doom that you are trying to do (but with mouselook on+autoaim disabled). I came to the conclusion that if you want it to be as close to the original as possible, you want Chocoloate Doom. I tried it and I wasn't pleased with the graphics, and ...

Re: Monsters Get Stuck Over Dropoffs and Sector Sounds
I've tried chocolate doom before, and it just doesn't look as nice as ZDoom does (even when I set the resolution to 2048x1536). ZDoom really makes the graphics clear and sharp. This is another reason I love ZDoom. Well, I guess what I'm going after, is getting ZDoom as close as possible to having it ...

Vanilla Doom Behavior (Pixel Art)
I have my compatibility settings set to "Doom (strict)", but for some reason, this setting remains disabled. I looked up the setting on the wiki and found this: Monsters get stuck over dropoffs (Yes/No) This option disables the logic that allows monsters to move away from positions where they hang ...

Can't Save FOV Value
I have fov "105" in my autoexec.cfg. But for some reason, it doesn't save the value and it returns to 90 every map change. Is there a way for me to save the value of FOV without having to type it in at every start of the level?

Re: Nightmare Skill Definitions
Alright, thanks guys. I always thought monsters did more damage in nightmare mode (and Ultra-Violence too), but I guess it was my imagination. My bad.

Nightmare Skill Definitions
I'm trying to figure out the following skill definition values that Nightmare uses. Could someone tell me the values that Nightmare chooses for the two skill definitions below?
DamageFactor =
MonsterHealth =

Re: Nightmare with No Respawning Monsters
Okay, here it is! Nightmare with no monster respawning. I was thinking of a name to call this difficulty, and the only thing that could come to mind was "Bad Dream". I think it suits the difficulty mode quite nicely. I just played threw the first three levels of Knee Deep in the Dead, and it was ...

Re: Nightmare with No Respawning Monsters
Okay cool, I'll give it a try. If I get it to work, I will post the file so anyone can try it out. Thanks a whole bunch guys, this is my dream come true lol.
