Phoenix rod + voodoo doll: death sound oddities
Vanilla Heretic introduced more player death sounds than Doom, there is wimpy (PLRWDTH), normal (PLRDTH), brutal (PLRCDTH) and gib (GIBDTH). The first two can be combined with burning sound (PHOPOW) if the player was killed by fire sources such as lava or Phoenix rod. In that case, normal death ...

Re: GZdoom 4.7.1 crashes with Adobe Acrobat in background
Thanks for the info. Low memory wasn't the problem, I had about 20 GB free when the crashes occured. I have high-performance (3200 MHz/CL14) memory and it turned out it doesn't work well with with newest mainbaorad BIOS. I had to upgrade the BIOS about a month ago, because Win10 refused to install ...

Re: GZdoom 4.7.1 crashes with Adobe Acrobat in background
I now encountered two crashes in Astroverse MAP29 at the same playtime, here is another dump.

GZdoom 4.7.1 crashes with Adobe Acrobat in background
It's probably not GZdoom's fault, but over the last week, I encountered several crashes when I had Adobe Acrobat running in the background. Specifically, it's Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (version 11.0.23) and it was performing OCR on very large scanned documents. Coincidentally, I was playing Astroverse ...

Re: [GZDoom] Doom2 - Redemption Of The Slain - Full Install
Damn impressive work, I really wish there were more maps like this! There is one thing that you could look into, though: there are player-blocking linedefs in the lava around the castle. In one instance, I fell into lava, but I couldn't make it to the nearest stairs because of them.

Re: [RELEASED] Spawn 2: Descent of Canopus V1.1
Good atmosphere, and some of the ingame texts and new console lines were truly amusing. However, running through the empty halls when trying to reach various objectives became boring after a while, so I just used noclip cheat most of the time (I edited the MAPINFO lump to enable cheats... was it ...

Re: Penumbra (Hexen megawad) - Beta
Ah nice, another Hexen with old-school feel, thanks for that. I agree with fluffyshambler it's easy most of the time, but with some nasty difficulty peaks (yorick's skull trap for example). That's not the main drawback of the mod, however. Firstly, the part after gem puzzle (2 heresiarch + 2 korax ...

Re: [RC2] Gomorrah - A UDMF mapset powered by OTEX
I tried this on UV and didn't find it overally very hard. Ammo balance was okay, but of course you need to use the chainsaw to conserve ammo. I couldn't figure out how to lower the bars around red and blue keys, so I just noclipped to them. I assume it's some sort of switch/shoot puzzles, but I ...

Re: A map with reliable "monsters fall into ground" bug
The point is, Graf looked for maps with this rare bug in order to (possibly) add their detection to the engine, but I'm not sure if it's still relevant. I already reported the bug to the author.

A map with reliable "monsters fall into ground" bug
I don't know if it's still relevant, but in this 2 years old thread , Graf mentioned that it's hard to find maps with the "monsters fall into ground" nodebuilder bug. Well, I found a map where it is very easy to replicate without teleporting etc., the monsters basically fall down right in front of ...

Re: [Classic-Style Megawad] Hell For Leather, Episodes 1+2
I completed only Episode 1 on UV so far, but there is one thing that irked me in most of the maps: not enough radsuits. They may be enough if the player knows exactly where to go and what to expect, but not for general exploration. It's no exaggeration I lost more health to acid floors than to ...

Why changing MUS/MIDI track causes jerking?
Ever since I started using Zdoom and its successors, I noticed that there is jerking when a MIDI/MUS music track changes. How bad it is depends on MIDI synth used, it is slight with Fluidsyth or old FMODex, and very bad with MS GS synth or LibOPN. Probably the worst is LibADL, it causes the game to ...

Mouse overall sensitivity lower than 0.5
Newer gaming mice have pretty high resolution (3000 DPI or more), but settings in GZdoom haven't kept up with them. Probably the easiest fix would be to allow mouse overal sensitivity lower than 0.5 in the GUI and to allow finer step than 0.1. (Yes, I know I can set whatever value I want by editing ...

Re: Heretic: Quest for the Crystal Skulls - Beta Release
I need to bind my artifacts to some keys next time. Does GZdoom natively support this? I checked the Customize controls page, but there seems to be no way to do it via GUI. There is a mini-mod that adds it via KEYCONF lump, though: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=61095 Anyway, I gave Beta 2 try and there is a ...

Re: Hexen: Cult of Despair - A "semi-openworld" WoC campaign
BTW, I tried the version from the OP in GZdoom 4.3.3, but it crashed with these errors: LoadActors: Load actor definitions. Script error, "CultofDespair.pk3:hexnmash.txt" line 1: Parent type 'NewEttin' not found in _Ettin Attempt to get invalid state Idle from actor _Ettin. Attempt to get invalid ...
