Re: Relighting Doom v3.31b [Updated 4/8/22]
Just posted v3.31b that mostly tweaks missile flashes. Colors are defined in the rl_weapons.txt lump. If a weapon is not defined and uses ammo it should still have a default light of white. This is currently proportional to the base health of the attacker so that more powerful monsters really light ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.3b [Updated 4/7/22]
Really enjoying this mod. Is there any way of disabling the illumination that kicks in when you enter the really dark areas? I prefer using a flashlight. Also noticed an odd bug - when the game is paused for a couple of minutes in certain areas (the opening of E1M3 for example), all the dynamic ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.3b [Updated 4/7/22]
Version 3.3b reduced the banding( rings ) and noise noticeably from a test here. Took a couple of before and after shots. Re: Relighting Doom v3.3b [Updated 4/7/22]
Just posted v3.3b. This should correct lighting edge anomalies (an experiment I'd tried), adds optional sprite shadows for decorations and other items, and adds a menu toggle for player missile flash. I'm pondering the latter, as there are numerous weapon mods that would need to be accounted for ...

Re: What was the last FPS game that can be considered "retro
First the discussion isn't about the last good retro FPS. It's about the last retro FPS. It's trying to define the boundary of the genre, not a question of quality. Right you are about that. My bad! Seems to me early vs. new games can be framed as an issue of thresholds similar to silent ...

Re: What was the last FPS game that can be considered "retro
Not to go all reductio ad absurdum , but this whole concept may be unique to video games. I can't ever remember witnessing discussions about "the last good retro novel" or "the last good retro film noir" or even "the last good retro station wagon." Something is good or not. Bad writing is bad ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.2b [Updated 4/5/22] - Missile Flashes
Just posted v3.2b, a maintenance update with the following changes: Added random elements to the liquid light actors and an activation distance for optimization Added twice the number of lights for "strip" lights, which makes the most difference on door key lights Added a check for the fist in the ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.1b [Updated 4/3/22] - Missile Flashes
Hi, this project has been amazing to see especially with how quickly it has progressed to the stage it's at. Super impressive. I may have stumbled on a bug in 3.1b that wasn't present in 3.0b using any weapon in 3.1b causes a white light to illuminate around the player. I'm wondering if anyone else ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.1b - missile Flash
a missile flash when a missile-based attack is launched. Update Let me know what you think! This is a nice touch, can make dark areas come alive(1). All the details really add to it. Re: Relighting Doom v3.2b - light tweaks
For the next minimal release trying some different dynamic lighting tweaks. Dynamic lights can easily be overdone, however I've added more stacking on the narrow "strip" light areas such as DOORRED.

Re: Relighting Doom v3.0b [Updated 4/3/22]
Posted v3.0b, largely a maintenance release. The only new feature is the light spinner. A few bugs were fixed; for example, ceiling glows are now animated. A few other things: directional light now defaults to random (a menu option); liquid lights work on floor and ceiling; many small bug fixes and ...

Re: Relighting Doom v2.9b [Updated 3/31/22]
Nice mod, looks visually impressive. Some feedback; v2.9b while darker overall( not a bad thing ) did look noticeably improved vs v2.81b, from a quick play. That spinner looks awesome as well. Not sure if your planning compatibly with other mods but I noticed that v2.9b doesn't load when used with ...

Re: Relighting Doom v3.0b - Shader tweaking
I have made allowances for the perceived brightness of red in several areas of Relighting , but it's still bothersome. I've made adjustments in the shader to slightly increase the luminosity of the red hues and a few other minor tweaks. Before After A subtle effect to be sure that is more noticeable ...
