You're welcome to code it into your own private build of ZDoom. Graf already said he's not putting it in ZDoom, and randee doesn't seem to keen on it either, so you're wasting time arguing the matter here.
The argument ended 2 posts ago with "your port, your business" it's just that the people ...

Re: 3 console commands that should be available from the menu
That's beyond the purpose of my original post. I believe this option is significant enough visually and performance-wise hence should be integrated into the menu out of mere convenience.SoulPriestess wrote:you already know how to disable decals

Re: 3 console commands that should be available from the menu
I found the performance to be quite satisfactory so long as you didn't repeatedly blast rockets at the same spot on a wall
Which happens quite often and even my 3ghz suffers, plus facing one of these spots at very close range literally gives you 0 fps.

Re: Crowbar sprite?
You start the game with a crowbar in your inventory and I don't recall ever losing it or picking it up, but I'm talking about single player mode. As for the sequel, quite honestly I have no idea, it's been centuries since I played that thing.
Kingpin has a nice crowbar, but it's a md2 model.

Re: Is there a downside to useing launchers?
Interesting. Thanks to your config, I can now confirm it "works" as long as HEXEN.WAD and HEXDD.WAD are placed in zdoom.exe's directory, so you're indeed relying on ZDoom to do the launching and not ZDL, thus the limitation is still there.

Re: 3 console commands that should be available from the menu
1) The menus are already quite crowded and (IMO) adding more to them would be counter productive

Re: Is there a downside to useing launchers?
You can't save iwad + pwad combinations snowberry-style. E.g HEXEN.WAD + HEXDD.WAD, tnt.wad + TNT31.WAD.
I can't say that I've ever tried, but it is possible to save configurations. Do these not do what you want?
Loading a configuration is about as efficient as manually adding the pwad so ...

Re: 3 console commands that should be available from the menu
The default cl_maxdecals number can have a performance hit in older computers, not to mention ZDoom decals are ugly as hell, thus I believe it should be more accessible for both performance and cosmetic reasons.

Re: Is there a downside to useing launchers?
ZDL 3.1a does it for me. It sure has a few limitations, one of them sort of annoying but other than that, it's a rock-solid, highly flexible, user-friendly, small and fast ZDoom launcher.

Crash when loading save (r1667M)
Attempting to load a save containing references to a file (e.g. pwad) that isn't there at the moment, results in ZDoom halting the process and warning you about what's missing, however, if the pwad is shit.wad, ZDoom crashes to desktop, and this I can quickly reproduce on demand.

3 console commands that should be available from the menu
vid_vsync (already in GZDoom), cl_maxdecals (should switch to 0 and back to it's previous number) and r_smoothlighting.
Thanks.

Re: FPS Capping (external thread)
I play ZDoom with uncapped FPS + vsync to get a smooth (100fps, thanks to my monitor being able to sync to 100hz at 1024x640), tearing-free image. Capping the FPS to that of vanilla Doom is something that has no apparent technical justification whatsoever when using this port, but I know of a person ...

The compression ratio achieved by UHArc with wad files is what amazes me, as it's the best I have knowledge of. Other aspects of the archiver don't look particularly impressive to me.Graf Zahl wrote:UHArc may compress WADs well but that neither makes it amazing
