wouldnd it be possible create voxel versions of doom's hud weapons instead? voxels would have the same look, since voxels are merely pixels arranged in a 3D space perhaps with some good voxel work, it could be able to make voxel versions of doom's HUD weapons that looks just like the original 2D ...

hmm... well... a slight subtle sway could be added possible which occurs with the players movement so that the player will actually be able to tell that the weapons are voxels instead of sprites? it can be very subtle, just enough for the player to be able to tell the weapons are voxels instead of ...

oh! one more thig i noticed is that when mappers add actual enemy-corpses into maps, that those corpses dont get replaced by voxels it would be awesome if you could add some voxels for those too, with the same voxels like for the marine-corpses, but with some different colors that belong to the ...

thats what i personally use too, as i feel v0.666 adds to much changes from vanilla with the skins and adds to much features

those Q1 themed sprites look like screenshots of the weapons from 'deathmatch classic',
which was valve's tribute to quake's deatchmatch in the half-life engine
