Re: zdoom.org cannot be accessed by other sites maintainers
I was also utterly unable to access zdoom.org until I "upgraded" my windows version from 7 last week. I cannot say that it has been an overall improvement but this was apparently what finally made me go through with it and presumably i will be glad i did at some point.

Re: I'm an artist looking for a job.
It definitely helps to have some off-site links to other accounts that are clearly by the same person linking to them to come across less like a weird twitter/discord scammer.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
yes the point was that i dislike the filter and have a lingering irrational grievance with someone on the forum and these issues aren't related. But i DID notice at one point that the account seemed to be deactivated and sometimes wonder if he might have gotten another one, like I often see happen ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I never had a thought for what graf or anyone else thought about it before I turned it off. I didn't even have a clear idea who graf was, in fact, since I only switched to gzdoom after zandronum started giving me problems, and i only ever tried zandronum because an irrelevant but pushy person ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
oh wow it is like the ZSNES eagle engine.
I think filtering on the three dimensional environments should be considered separately from menu graphics and the weapon sprites. higher resolution doesn't affect them the same way.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I made batch files to display dumb text graphics but do not think i ever used it for node building. That would make too much sense.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
i probably still have the muscle memory for running zennode and loading pwads on a command line but am sure glad I don't need to use it. I don't even consciously remember HOW to load a wad but my fingers seemed to believe it involved -play but then switched to -file . dir.exe /p/w has just come up ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
That might be another reason my brother prefers Doom 64. You put the cartridge in the slot, press a button to turn it on and it is there.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I don't mind the filtering being on by default if that is ultimately a more forward-looking feature, but since it is so controversial it ought to be easy to disable, and also easy to IDENTIFY. I only figured out what it was because I mess with everything I don't remember seeing before, but I think ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I DO have fondness for the vintage method of fading the colors into darkness, and once in a while I think about my now largely irrelevant efforts to optimize the base palette, but I also miss some of the socks I used to have. I prefer being able to use 3d sectors.

Re: selling a game made in GZDOOM with ultimate doom builder?
Long ago I had a particular cd, and really liked one of the shoveled wads, but I lost contact with the disc at some point, and years later wanted to find the wad again but couldn't remember its name. I even started a thread here making the absurd request that if anyone else has the cd if they could ...

Re: selling a game made in GZDOOM with ultimate doom builder?
in the 1990s there were add-on packages like d!zone and demongate that were sold commercially even though they required doom-games made by other companies in order to function. you can pretty much [attempt to] sell anything as long as you made it yourself*, though presumably going through steam ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I was always obsessive compulsive so what bothered me, apart from the triangular blending was that hellknights and barons would gladly assault each other rather than cooperating and you can see them switch hands mid-attack if you happen to be run-dodging around them, and then there are only two ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
Everything on the n64 was too blurry and i don't know how much of that was deliberate, since at least in doom 64 the blur is applied diagonally (quite apparent from the fences right beside the start of the first level) and sprites always look creased in the middle. I remember nintendo power magazine ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
I have also seen the argument that you "need" to get period authentic monitors so that dithering on sega genesis games looks correct. I still like being able to see pixel edges, even if it is less period accurate, but I figured that was just particular to me. I don't like pixelized blending in ...
