Re: Hocusdoom RELEASED (/idgames pending)
Hisymak, a question for you: tha author of hocus pocus once worked on prior games (clyde’s adventure and clyde’s revenge). The games share some similarities in seems in conception. Do you think your hocus pocus editor could also work for the formers? I just took a quick look, and it seems that the ...

Re: Hocusdoom RELEASED (/idgames pending)
Sure is! I really should get back to working on that. I only ever finished three levels for it. Oh nice, I could only play the one level, and I would like to see the remaining ones, if you could provide your mod. And it's good to hear you would get back into it, so that we would have also a full ...

Re: Hocusdoom RELEASED (/idgames pending)
I've been doing a thing Oooh, more stuff! Btw, the tileset used in the first few screenshots, isn't that a tileset which you used to make your custom new level for the original Hocus Pocus game, using HocusEditor which I released back then? I would really love to see some mod for the original Hocus ...

Re: Heretic: Temple Entrance (my first WAD)
So I gave it a try. First of all, I noticed you mentioned you do not know about the origin of MIDI music. I recognized it immediately, same track was used in Alien Vendetta MAP22. Doom Wiki says "briefing music from Descent II's MIDI soundtrack". Hope this mystery was solved for you. Then about the ...

Re: Hocusdoom BETA (new version 09-23-18)
Great work Ravage! I just have one question and one notice. - I'm really curious, why are you still offering the ogg soundtrack? With inclusion of Hocus Pocus GENMIDI lump, the players can just simply choose "OPL Synth Emulation" as MIDI device, and they get music which sounds almost identical to ...

Re: [b50123e] OPL note cutoffs and other issues
Thank you for merging my fix. After some further testing I discovered there was one more very minor and rarely occuring bug: Double-voice instruments randomly don't play the second voice. And fixed that as well! Here's pull request: https://github.com/coelckers/gzdoom/pull/474 (just one-character ...

Re: [b50123e] OPL note cutoffs and other issues
Hooray, I attempted to fix this bug myself and here's the pull request: https://github.com/coelckers/gzdoom/pull/471 As I already mentioned, all problems were in findFreeVoice() function after rewriting the code from MusLib to Chocolate Doom. There were two separate issues which were causing ...

Re: [b50123e] OPL note cutoffs and other issues
I'm bumping this because I have a clue what might be the cause of note cutoff issues. Basically there's difference between old (MUSLIB's) "findFreeChannel" function and the new (Chocolate Doom's ?) "findFreeVoice" function logic. It seems that the old function "findFreeChannel" was trying to some ...

Re: Hisymak's GENMIDI: An enhanced GENMIDI lump for OPL Synt
I've done some more work on my GENMIDI since I released it, and made change to a few more instruments, most importantly Koto. I'm really satisfied with its sound now. You can try for example with Shadow Warrior music, as it uses Koto everywhere. Here you can download it: hisymak_genmidi_2017-08-06 ...

Re: Hisymak's GENMIDI: An enhanced GENMIDI lump for OPL Synt
Oh snap I got competition, better step up my game Hehe, I noticed just after I posted my project on ZDoom forums. Probably good I didn't know that earlier, so I could work on this totally independently. Paul Radek had a lot of instruments, notably percussion ones, that he did not finish, and ...

Hisymak's GENMIDI: An enhanced GENMIDI lump for OPL Synth
Are you a fan of the FM/OPL synthesis and do you like the oldschool sound of the Adlib and Sound Blaster sound cards? Do you use OPL Synth emulation in ZDoom-based Doom ports? If yes, then I have something of your interest: A highly enhanced GENMIDI lump to improve the sounding of many instruments ...

Re: Plutonia MIDI Pack + Plutonia 2 soundtrack: OPL Synth co
Hello again! Now I recorded also Plutonia 2 soundrack, as I promised! You can listen to it here: https://youtu.be/lT6_G1usQXc Again I customized even more instruments in the GENMIDI lump. I gave new sounding to many instruments which I was not happy with, trying to make the songs sound better and ...

Re: Hocus Doom (new version 01-27-2017)
Good news! I think I finally figured out how to properly convert the percussion instruments into GENMIDI. So now, the percussion instruments should sound much better/closer to their original sounding. Posting the new version in attachment. Btw, no need to switch to "Dosbox OPL3" opl emulator core ...
