I would suggest packaging it as a single download as well as a mod. I mean it looks incredible for gzdoom, if the gameplay is there and it has enough content (2-3 hours worth of maps) I don't see why mods like this one could not be sold as a commercial game for a few dollars. So I haven't touched whatever I was making before in like a year, but this week decided to make a quick model in blender to see if I still remember how to do it and import it into zdoom. Even much more modern games go the sprite/particle route instead of models for explosions. The Quake II ones were pretty poor IMO. Something about that demo video reminds me of the style of the old arcade game Berzerk. Yeah you are probably correct regarding sprites vs models. Forgot about Berzerk ...

Made most of the items into models, also did a quick enemy test model with a vweapon (separate model/animation), a model flash, and gibs after xdeath.
