one thing that bugs me is that all the monsters look so "clean". the Shambler has shiny skin, whilst he's actually supposed to have rugged fur. the Fiends also look, and sound, like generic monsters. i couldn't tell that they even were Fiends in the first place. I am usually a bit prejudiced against high-res packs for old games myself. They usually clash with the original feel of the game to much for me, but Quake Epsilon really did a great job I think.

I think Quake Epsilon is better, also comes with high-res textures, a few higher polygon models (and high-res skins for the rest), and also comes with a compilation of various small enhancement mods. Would there be a way though to edit the soundfont itself, so Zdoom can play any midi correctly instead of having to go through each midi in the tracker, 'fixing' the instruments manually? I tried this myself but the instruments just became a mess of sounds and sounded nothing like this at all. Yeah, I recall that the guy who made this said that the Doom64ex soundfont contains both the ambient noises (which come first, are used by Zdoom and cause the mess) and the actual instrument ...

Doom64 Soundfont

Does anyone know where I can download the soundfont used to make this?


Tried to use the one generated by Doom64ex, but the "instruments" it uses are just various ambient noises from Doom 64...

And sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.
