It's definitely a timing issue. The code itself works fine most of the time. I haven't found out yet what's at fault but I also didn't consider this critical enough to halt everything else for.

It doesn't look like the panning works as intended anymore, instead of smoothly centering it just snaps to the center.

Not sure if it's perhaps framerate dependent, but it doesn't work consistently anyway. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just snaps after a very brief panning, or just doesn't pan at all.
