I run Windows in 1024x768 fine. No lag, no bugginess, no low framerate.

by Doom » Fri Oct 22, 2004 7:42 am

2mb = ok up to 320x240
4mb = ok up to 640x480
8mb = ok up to 800x600

Forcing higher resolutions on any of these cards will drop the framefate to somthing below 50 no matter how good the rest fo your hardware is.

by Arcane » Thu Oct 21, 2004 8:41 pm

Eh, try playing on a 4mb video card.

ZDoom: Always at least over 50 fps. or at least on 320x480. At 800x600, it only drops at most to 25 or so. (With tons of sprites onscreen.)

DOOM Legacy: ... OpenGL gets about 2fps. Software gets 20 at max with multiple sprites, and can get 60... On 320x480 with no HUD and no enemies around. I couldn't even stand one deathmatch game, much less the entire fucking GAME. >.>

And ZDoom has a fun author.

(On that note: I'm now beginning a Flynn Taggart and Flynn Taggart v Athena 2k3 and Athena 2k match in MUGEN to commemorate Susan. :P)

LEGACY HAS NEVER BEEN SLOW TO ME. sorry, but that crap is all lies.; actually play the whole doom2 game on the port and you'll see.

by GeeDougg » Thu Oct 21, 2004 6:03 pm

Well to be fair I don't get 3FPS in Legacy.... I may get inconsistent and fluctuating frame-rates and perforance regardless of wha is actually being rendered on screen or wat is gong on in the game, but at least the frame-rate is much higher than a ghastly 3FPS.... I know you all hate Legacy and all, but you gotta be fair. Even if Legacy was competely teh suk I don't see why you shouldn't give credit where credit is due. If Legacy gets 35FPS then why compare it to something that gets 3FPS...?

geedougg wrote:Fully playable? You mean at 3FPS? 'Cuz if that's what you mean then yeah, it's definitely playable.
This is a full description of all of LEGACY.

by GeeDougg » Thu Oct 21, 2004 5:23 pm

Hmm, I don't get it. WHAT works on Legacy?

by Arcane » Thu Oct 21, 2004 4:32 pm

... Just to steal a joke.. I guess it really DOES work on Legacy. >.>

Fully playable? You mean at 3FPS? 'Cuz if that's what you mean then yeah, it's definitely playable.

It is fully beatable, I assure you. If only I still had it, seriously, I would post it here, it rules! You can ask Csonicgo! He has seen it! :P

It's removed for ZDoom. They are discussing Legacy and the original Doom executable, which do indeed have a sprite cap. I also seem to recall 64 being the number for this.

Zdoom has a cap as well. If you have ever played the #notzdoomrelated infamous mod1337.wad map01 then you know that, lets just say zdoom couldn't render 1000 zombieman at once :lol:

Plutonia MAP32, the army of revenants. You definitely notice the cap there. :P
