bump

So is this suggestion going to be considered?

I was thinking, I can't get a perfect match for the default 4 colors for Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife, so maybe have the 4 slots saved as the default colors, then if anyone wants to make their custom colors using the sliders, they can overwrite the default color, but then there would be reset to default thing that reverts your custom colors back to the 4 default colors, and a set to default to set your customs as default, so that if you reset, it resets it to your custom colors. Anyone with me?

Also if you have custom skins, you can set up your custom colors, and set at what player 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8's default colors would be.

If they don't rely on player inventory to keep track of what happened and what didn't... Good thing there's ACS!

Still, I assume there's nothing stopping new ZDoom Strife in Hexen coop maps from screwing up is there?

Totally. And since the other player's items can't be tracked each one is basically playing the story for himself - which would end as soon as a one time action is triggered.

About strife coop: Assuming you added coop starts, I'm pretty sure the game works by giving the player dummy items to tell where he is in the story, but in coop both players could have different items, screwing up the game.

The IWAD maps don't work in coop. Some even don't have proper starts for the other players.

Strife has never worked in coop. With Karate Chris' fixes for multiplayer conversations, you could give it a try, but chances are you'd never be able to finish it.

Strife Co-Op?

Have fun with that.

This is a site that I had bookmarked like around 10 years ago. So, the armbands match the color of the helmet, and thus never get recolored.
We're talking about Strife.
My bad

And my brother is bugging me to play some strife coop, and I reply, not until you play some quake coop, because I'm not that into strife, although I would some day want to try some coop with my brother, and he hates quake for being too brown, and would rather play hexen II instead.

Oh, right. Unfortunately, I have no way to check that.

XutaWoo wrote:you can't color the Rebel's green bands, which was done in the original Strife for multiplayer, I think.
Actually, that was a (relatively) recent change to Zdoom to comply with how Strife did it originally. Prior to the change, Zdoom used to apply the colour translation to the green armbands only. However, it was pointed out that this was not correct when compared to the original Strife which coloured the brown uniform instead. Personally, I think the armband colouring was much nicer but the whole suit is true to the original exe and you know how people get about that kind of stuff. ;)

I suspect that the green armbands would have originally been for multiplayer but at some point someone decided they didn't allow for quick/easy enough identification of who was who and so the way it was done got changed.

If the original translations get supported it will be done by using the original translation tables, not some emulation via color range. For all games except Hexen they are already defined and Hexen has them as binary lumps in the IWAD.
